Job Title:  Radio Technician
Pay: Dependant on experience
Hours:  Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30 with an hour for lunch
Holidays: Twenty days per annum, plus bank holidays (Note two days leave must be retained for the annual Christmas / New Year Shutdown period)
Sick Pay: Statutory Sick Pay
Probationary Period: Six Months
Pension: Included after three months

DTS themselves are a long-established two-way radio company, we are looking for an enthusiastic person that thrives in a busy environment to join our workshop team.

As either an experienced Radio Technician or someone with proven experience in electronics you could be the ideal candidate. Experience in Motorola Commercial and Professional Series products including MOTOTRBO, Capacity Plus and Linked Capacity Plus, as well as basic analogue and digital programming skills, would be an advantage.

Duties will include, (but not be limited to):

  • Trouble-shooting & repair of high-end radio products down to the component level
  • PAT testing of electrical equipment
  • Prepare equipment for hire and sale, both radio and Public Address
  • Attendance at client events, when required, possible weekend work may be involved
  • Having a good hand for soldering and identifying electronic components
  • Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and service schedules to repair customer product
  • Extensive troubleshooting to the component level for both analogue and digital radios
  • Completely repair reports via our Service Software
  • Communicating with customers by telephone
  • Advising Line Manager of recurring issues

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of One-year electronics or RF experience
  • An understanding of RF theory and basic electronics at a component level
  • Proficient at electrical circuit troubleshooting and the operation of test equipment
  • Experience with Motorola communication equipment (e.g. two-way radios) and public safety systems is an advantage

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be computer literate
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to build & maintain good morale
  • Must have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Must be able to develop an understanding of communication technologies
  • Must want to stay current with trends in communication equipment and legislation

Software / Online Portals:

  • Microsoft Office 365 Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and One Drive
  • Our MCS Stock Management, Processing and CRM System
  • AyaNova Service Management Solution
  • BCARM QA, Health, Safety, Environmental Management and Training Software

It is vital for the smooth running of the Company as a whole, that all relevant reports are completed, and company procedures are always adhered to.

Hours of work:

Your hours of work will be from 9:00 to 17:30 Monday through Friday, you may be required to start early should the job depend on it, with one hour for lunch.

Annual Leave:

The paid holiday entitlement is twenty days; of these twenty days two must be taken as part of the Christmas shutdown period, plus public holidays.  Holidays must be agreed upon with your Manager as early as possible.

Sick Leave:

Company sick pay will be at the discretion of the management, although it is not usually paid during the probationary period. If you are unable to come to work for any reason, you must inform the company by 10 am on the first day of absence.  In notifying the Company, you should indicate the reason for your absence and its likely duration.
